I’m Lauren Schaefer.
I’m an IU grad, lover of improv, fan of sarcasm, and professional event planner. I’m a New York transplant and transitioning into the adult world. I’m living on a tight budget with big aspirations. It should be a pretty entertaining journey.
As I write, I hope that others might be able to learn a little about New York with me. l’m not sure where this will all lead me, but for now, I’m writing from my fifth floor apartment. Stay tuned.
To see what I’ve gotten into so far, check out my adventures, city living, and events. Thanks for reading!

Good luck in the wide world of adulthood!

So many people of my age (still in college but almost out!) wants to go to the West Coast because they want Cali’s relaxing climate all-year long. No one wanted to move to NYC but me. I’d like to move to the big apple someday. My friend and I are planning on visiting soon and I think following your blog will be such a great help to visit places that aren’t so mainstream. Keep on writing! :D
Thank you! I do hope by blog can help others in there New York journey! Do let me know if you have any questions or need help!
I am so happy to have found your blog! I can’t wait to be able to set aside some time to delve into your blog. I was born and raised in NYC and love anything NYC related. It is interesting to read the perspective of people who have just moved to the city.

Lauren, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your stories! It totally brings me back to the time when I was new to New York, and they’re so fun and contain so much humor. Given this, I have given you a bit of acknowledgment on my site in the form of a Liebster Blog Award. Here is a link to my post, which encourages others to check out your site: http://softercity.com/2012/03/27/a-first-time-honor-and-some-other-blogs-that-you-should-check-out/

Oh Em Gee! Yay! Excited to catch up on your posts. In April I had the urge to move to NYC and packed up all my belongings and did so! I too, live on a tight budget, work my ass off in corporate america and dream bigger than BIG in this new city. Nice to meet you! lol

I am BEYOND thrilled to have found your blog!! I would love to get into events (currently an admin) and I dream of moving out east, particularly to NYC. How did you get into event planning?
Oh good! So glad you found me too! I definitely have an event planning blog in the works! Stick around!
Glad I found this blog! I feel like we could be best friends (creepy?). Haha, I just graduated & moved to a new city — Baltimore, not nearly as cool as NYC — but being a young professional is such a fun/crazy/weird time and I love reading about other peoples experiences living it!
