Between this crazy madness (which was enough excitement for the week– call it quits right there!) I also had a pretty intense week personally and at work as well. And it seems that the weeks to come are going to be pretty intense too. But that’s exciting right? All in a lifetime of growing…

Anyways– I’m in a pretty chill mood this morning. I went to physical therapy and got to use the Equinox locker rooms (sauna and steam room included) and that always tends to chill me out.

So for the weekend- let’s go at this one easy and gear up for another week of growing ahead…

So right as I cleared the crosswalk to see what was going on, a large black SUV opened its door to my left. I immediately turned around and right as I did, Gerard Butler got out (hot steamy guy above). Man- security sucked. I just used the crosswalk and ended up right next to him!

As he entered the tent to walk the red carpet, I caught this AWARD WINNING PHOTO.

You can be jealous. I mean, we are pretty much best friends now.

Now we are old pros.

I confirmed that the hot lumberjack man was back again to sell trees across the street. He indeed was. Plaid and all.

So the roommates allowed me the “opportunity” to purchase our wreath this year. (Our little apartment is a little too awkward for a tree… and those things around here are $$$ that none of us are willing to fork over).

So I got our little wreath this year. NEW this year: Cupcake tins snowflakes I hung from paperclips. Ghetto-chic.

But this year, when I made the trek to get our wreath, the lumberjack was totally smitten enough to give me free trimmings too. Ohhhhhh yeahhh free trimmings. We are getting married.

So with the free trimmings, I made my own Etsy-fied Christmas tree in my room. Mason jar and all. It is tiny but odoriferous.

So there you have it folks. Holidays has hit Harlem. AND the grocery store across the street even started carrying low-fat eggnog. I think it is the first low-fat item I’ve ever seen in the store (we’re not ones for skimping on fat around here).

I decided this year to decorate the outside of my “house” too. So when ALLLL the carolers and families in minivans circle the nay-bah-hood they’ll notice my “house” this year as well. No animatronic deer though.

Yep. Those are XMAS lights around my security bars on my windows. I’ll get a photo from the outside when I think it’s safe to go outside in the dark again.

Just kidding.

I’m spending the weekend watching hours and hours of Friday Night Lights. Online holiday shopping and making these cookies. Oh- and working on Sunday. Womp Womp. All in all though, not a bad way to spend a sicky weekend.

Monday hit me hard. Like a big slap on the face for the week.

Do you ever have those moments where you go a little out of body? Like you’re narrating your own life? Like your eyes turn into strangers and you’re seeing something for the first time?

It hasn’t happened to me in a while. I’ve been bogged down, busy, going from thing to thing and have had a ton of distractions.

But tonight- maybe it was the extra jolt of PSL or maybe it was the decision to walk twenty blocks to improv instead of take the train but it happened to me.

I was walking across the street. I knew where I was, where I was going, enjoying my music and scoping out the next restaurant to visit- and then I was out of body.

HELLO?!? Since when have you lived in New York? Crazy town. Do you see where you are?? You live here. LIVE here.

I take it for granted. I don’t always like it. But I’m here and sometimes that is still hard to believe.

And then the eyeballs become mine again….

I’m incredibly unprepared.
I’m going by myself.
I couldn’t be less concerned.

Wait. The event planner?? Completely unprepared? Yep. It’s weird.

Really, I’m shocked how okay with it all I am. I mean, no doubt I will have a few minor freakouts. Probably tomorrow waiting for the plane. But I think it will be worth it.

And I can’t wait to be by myself. All I’m going to do is focus on where I’m going next and what bar I should go to for tapas. Because as much as I’m going away to see the sights and be in another culture, I’m really excited just to get out of New York too.

So I’m totally disconnecting. No phone. No Facebook. No blogging. Just enough emails to tell my parents I’m alive. I can’t wait.

Yesterday was my last day of work. Crazy crazy. No more explaining necessary. It was a big deal.

3. Europe Continues!

This will be my last H54F for a while since next week at this time I will be in England!! And then on to Spain!!! Crazy crazy!! No more planning has been accomplished other than breaking in my walking shoes. SO PUMPED. If you want to stay updated on all the craziness, subscribe! :)

4. Last Week Lunches!

My friends and colleagues are far to nice and I had some wonderful lunches out this week. It was especially a pleasure to have dinner with the Michauds this week who were visiting the city. I had brunch with them my first weekend here, so it was like I came full circle! What lovely friends I have :)

5.Into the Woods this weekend!

This weekend I am HOPING (fingers crossed) to get to see Into the Woods, part of this season’s Shakespeare in the Park! Amy Adams plays the Baker’s Wife, the same role I played in high school! Though, I’m sure she’ll probably show me up! I’ll have more to report on this soon (hopefully hopefully!!)

2. Kennedy the Musical!

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the Kennedys therefore the fact that there is going to be a Kennedy BROADWAY SHOW definitely topped my list of favs for the week.

3. Europe Continues!

This week, I got my Ebay Baggalini purse!! It will be PERFECT for Europe. And it is WAY better in person than the Ebay image… therefore, you’ll have to wait until I practice sport it this weekend for a picture… I KNOW– the anticipation must be KILLER.

(I’ve also decided that beyond my packing list, I will most likely be totally unprepared for Europe… looking forward to it!)

4. Many a goodbye lunches…

My sweet team has been so kind to me and so graceful with my transition to my new position. This week I was treated to 3 wonderful lunches from my work friends! I will miss them dearly!!

5. The Family Adventures Continue…

It has been SO nice to have my family in town this weekend for lots of exploring, seeing Jersey Boys (more on that later), seeing my brother’s concert (more on that later), and showing them my digs in Harlem! I loved bringing the family up and seeing how great it is!! Best part- taking them to Harlem Tavern to experience (and they agreed) the BEST SWEET POTATO FRIES EVER.

1. A Nice Little Coincidence…

When I was leaving improv team practice this week (an awesome high five in itself) we caught the fireworks from the New York Philharmonic in  Central Park through all the lights of Times Square! So cool!

2. Work Lunch at Red Rooster!

My team took a celebratory birthday lunch to Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster in Harlem this week and it was SOOOOO good. Swedish soul food?? Yum yes. And it is Restaurant Week in New York so we got a 3-course prix fix menu for a great price! Delicious.

3. Europe Continues!

My weekly Europe update continues…. this week I got some really great shoes. Like really great walking shoes. Really great. Now to figure out the phone issues. If anyone has any ideas… let me know!

4. I Went to the Dentist

For normal people, visiting the dentist wouldn’t be a highlight of their week. But if you know my huge obsession crush on my dentist, you would know it was definitely a highlight of mine. Rawr.

5. MASSIVE Family Time

My dad came in this week, my aunt, uncle, the above crazies, my brother and my mom are coming in town for the whole next week!! SO excited and SO needed.
